View of part of Kop van Zuid from the Erasmus BridgeMaastoren is to the far left, or the eastern edge of the Kop van Zuid, this redeveloped former dock area on the River Maas. This redevelopment, beginning in the 1960s, extended the city center to the south and added both housing and offices, some spectacular skyscrapers so that this area is sometimes referred to Manhattan on the Maas. See below for index to buildings on this site in Kop van Zuid. |

The tallest building in The NetherlandsThis skyscraper is 165 meters tall with 44 floors. The building is clad in aluminum, the color of which changes, depending on the weather. (See the contrasting photos below.) The skyscraper has two main parts: one of 165 metres (541 feet) and one turned compared to the other of 105 metres (344 feet). The skyscraper's colors change with the height, for the bottom is dark gray, to resemble the dark rock of the wharf, and gradually the colors modulate through more than 20 shades of aluminum terminating in silver at the top.
