Ackerman Student Union, UCLA

Rebecca L. Binder
1996

The glu-lam beams supported by pre-cast concrete columns and steel tie-down rods

Binder previously used common industrial materials. Here, however, the wood is highly finished and more refined. See also the Information Computer Sciences facility at U. C. Irvine.

The bus stop

The arcs of the bus stop roof echo the arced trellises on the roof of the Union. (This photograph was taken on the day of Commencement--presumably limos are not normally waiting at the bus stop!)
