Hoftoren

Kohn Pedersen and Fox
2003

The second tallest wolkenkrabber (cloud scratcher, or skyscraper) in the Netherlands

This 29-story tower at 144 meters (472 feet) high was originally designed with a spire that would have made it 172 meters (or 563 feet). If the spire had been added, it would have made Hoftoren the highest building in the Netherlands. This skyscraper is an impressive addition to the central city's urban redevelopment. Winner of an international competition, the skyscraper has received numerous awards for its architecture.

Skyline with Hoftoren, the gables of Graves' Castalia, and the green roof of Pelli's Zurichtoren; between buildings a view of the side of Hoftoren.

At street level there is a central garden courtyard which on three sides is encircled by a 15-story podium and tower.
