Like many of his buildings, this addition uses what Rossi calls "perpetuating typology," or forms that have stood the test of time. The arcade or colonnade is one such form. Here the exposed "I" beam is modern element. (See also Rossi's Casa Aurora where the metal is a kind of decoration.)
