Color-coded escalator leading from the mixing room to the reading room at the very top of the library

A secular "cathedral," this great civic building with a huge vaulted ceiling provides magnificent views of the city and the Sound. Throughout the library there is a variety of seating options--easy chairs, desk chairs, cafe chairs and a variety of places to read and rest.

North orientation

The reading area is on the north side of the library for controlled light and less glare--although Seattle isn't famous for its bright or harsh light!

Librarian's offices are also located on this top level.
