Branch House (built for John Kerr Branch Jr.)

John Russell Pope
1919

Views of the front

"Branch's Castle" at 2501 Monument Avenue, is just two blocks south of John Russell Pope's Union Station.

This residence was comissioned by John Kerr Branch, Jr., a stockbroker and bank president in Richmond. Unlike Pope's Union Station or his National Gallery of Art in Washington, which employ a stately classicism, this residence uses the then popular style for the wealthy--the Tudor-Jacobean style.
