The gardens here and at the Generalife are largely reconstructed, with little evidence that the original gardens resembled these. In the last 200 years the gardens have been redesigned.
 
This lower garden, with an avenue lined by cypresses, leads to the Generalife, the summer residence of the Nasrid kings.
