Bacchic themes ornament this very large marble vase

Gavin Hamilton, a Scottish painter and art dealer, discovered the fragments of this vase at Hadrian's Villa, Tivoli in about 1771.
 
 
Skins of snimal heads, grapes and grape vines, the thrysis, and grape leaf headbands are part of the Bacchic ornamentation.
