BP America Building--page 1 (of two pages)

HOK (Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum)
1985

Front of the tower facing the public square--southeast quadrant

The Soldiers and Sailors Monument, erected in 1894, is in the small park directly across from this corporate headquarters. The stepped profile and halves flared outward give the tower an unusual skyline identity.

The unusual skyline identity

The flared halves are oriented to Superior and Euclid Avenues, the two streets that flank the building. The building is 45 stories and rises about 650 feet above ground level.
