Thornburg Investment Management Building--page 1 (of two pages)

Legorreta+Legorreta
2009

This office building is built in the outskirts of Santa Fe and seems to merge with the canyons and hills. According to the firm's web site, "The building was adapted to its natural surroundings, respecting the canyons, studying the topography and the views for the architecture to dialogue with the landscape," a goal seemingly fulfilled. This photographer saw the building on a weekend when the site was virtually deserted so without ever-present cars and people, it seemed to grow out of the landscape.

Note the window detail at the corner. Legorreta used this kind of deeply encased window both at Plaza Juarez and in the courtyard at Santa Fe University of Art and Design
