The Activity Center

A Fact Sheet on the Keep Memory Alive site notes that the building is clad in 18,000 stainless steel shingles, each cut to unique measurements, and has 199 windows, none of which are alike.

The Fact Sheet on the Keep Memory Alive site notes that the stainless steel shingles were hand-scoured with an "angel-hair" finish to reduce the glare. This finish does not, however, reduce the temperature. "Due to temperature extremes in Las Vegas, spacers have been installed in the aluminum support system to allow for expansion of 2 ¼ inches over the 60 vertical feet." Environmental sensitivity includes climate control only on the lower (occupied) 15 feet of the Center and the windows have computerized shades used to conserve heat or air conditioning.
