Schouwburgplein (or Theater Square)

Adriaan Greuze
1997

This square is in the central city, only a few minutes from Centraal Station. It was redesigned in the 1990s as a kind of podium, raised from the ground like a kind of stage for outdoor installations and events. The city theater, the music hall, and the IMAX theater are part of this square. The huge crane-like lights can be operated by those in the park.

This theater has 7 auditoriums sitting on top of a parking garage. The structure is light-weight wrapped in transparent corrugated sheet.
