Palacio de Bellas Artes--page 2 (of three pages)

Superficially classical From a distance this edifice gives the appearance of being classical. However, wonderfully eccentric details belie that impression. Note, for example, the capitals here. Incised linear decoration extends down the shaft past the neck as well on both piers and columns.

		Large pavilions flanking the center entrance Aztec motifs (note especially the entwined serpent) coexist with the elaborate metal art nouveau door.
