John M. Johansen
1969

This early building by Johansen, like his Mummer's Theater in Oklahoma City, is often classified as "new brutalism," monumental architecture which is sculptural, often ignoring a human scale and immediate context. See, for example, the Boston City Hall and Rudolph's Art and Architecture Building.
