The Castle complex is linked not only by the similarity in the architecture, but by repeated design elements (like the herms on the balustrades), by terraces and stairways, by pavements and decorative tile, by gardens and hedges. Morgan's attention to detail created a unified whole. |

Art from a number of different historical periods was incorporated in the Castle complex. Hearst had acquired these statues of the Egyptian lion-faced goddess Sekhmet. Morgan then designed the setting for the statues as well as the Egyptian-inspired tile with papyrus motifs. Right photograph was taken by my husband, William J. Sullivan. |
