LACMA Pavilion for Japanese Art

Bruce Goff (completed by Bart Prince, after Goff's death)

This exhibit space for Japanese art is an addition to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. It is linked to the original buildings by a curving elevated walkway (right and below). The structure is faced in pale green stucco in imitation of Japanese screens. Columns support pointed beams from which the roof is suspended by cables.

The curving walkway and the covered connecting bridge (center)

Two large circular towers, in aggregate, contain stairs and elevators.
