Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Richelieu Library--page 3 (of three pages)

Henri Labrouste
1868

The Labrouste Hall

This hallway is directly outside of the Reading Room and is accessible from the Courtyard of Honour (see below). The official website compares these designs to both Pompeian and Etruscan art, especially with the inlaid polished marble disks.

The Courtyard of Honour

This entrance provides access to the Reading Room; it has been recently renovated and has a hallway above for easier mobility.

"The Richelieu Library located 58, rue de Richelieu, at the heart of Paris city, is the historic cradle of the Bibliothèque nationale de France. Renamed “Richelieu, bibliothèques, musée, galeries”, the Richelieu Library now also includes the libraries of the Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art and the Êcole nationale des Chartes" (official website).
