Jerry's Famous Deli (originally Hoffman's Cafeteria)

Henry Hohauser
1940
1450 Collins Ave

A corner location

Richard and Valerie Beaubien describe this structure, originally designed as a cafeteria, as "the bow of a tugboat cutting through the waves. The nautical imagery continues with a central 'smokestack,' flagpoles and terrific cutout portholes on the parapet" (97). I failed to take a look at the interior but the former authors praise it extravagantly.
