Danish Embassy

This starkly modern building is sited in a partly residential area. With attention to this context, the Danish architect Arne Jacobsen designed the structure into five clear bays, each about the same width as the typical houses in the area. Similarly, the two top floors of offices and residential areas are set back, clad in a dark curtain wall, and respect the height of neighboring buildings.
Front facade and entrance Although the building is clad in aluminum, the lowest register of the building has a concrete screen--with abstract, geometric designs--by Danish sculptor Ole Schwalbe.
Views from the side The residential wing is visible from the side with rooms cantilevered out from the concrete walls.
