Palazzo Borghese

Flamino Ponzio

1608-13

This symmetrical palace, built for Cardinal Scipione Borghese, a nephew of Paul V, was designed to house his extensive collection of ancient and contemporary sculpture. The structure is topped by two towers and once was covered with Mannerist style sculptured decoration, some of which survives today. The building is now a wonderful art museum. See this site.
