Hyatt Regency Atlanta Hotel

John Portman and Associates
1967 (Additions, 1971, 1982)

Exterior views

None of these pictures show the rotating lounge (with a blue dome!) at the top of the 23-story building.

A spectacular full height atrium lights the main lobby, a feature that Portman (as well as many other architects) has repeated. (See, for example, his Atlanta Marriot Marquis Hotel.) Richard Lipphold's 120 foot sculpture entitled Flora Raris also occupies the lobby.

At the far right of the center photograph Portman's trademark "bubble" elevators can be seen. These are open glass-walled elevators with domed tops.
