Abstract bronze fountainGeorge Tsutakawa, a Japanese-American sculptor, was a native and longtime resident of Seattle (he taught at the University of Washington). He was most well-known for his fountains, creating more than 70 for public places around the world. This, his first fountain (with many to follow), was commissioned for the original library at this location in 1958. The Tsutakawa fountain, which had been in storage while the new library was being built, was reinstalled at the entrance to the building at 1000 Fourth Ave in 2004. |
