This is the only building in Virginia by Strickland, who was trained by Henry Latrobe and worked in Philadelphia as well as Nashville (designing the State Capitol building there). Unlike the Capitol in Greek Revival style, this small chuch is Gothic Revival.
The nave
This picturesque granite church uses fairly restrained Gothic details. The tall central tower and lancet windows are typically Gothic.
Views from the rear
The rear extension and entrance may be a later addition.
