This sculpture by the famous American Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein was part of the rejuvenation project for the waterfront area previously known as Moll de la Fusta. Positioned to be visible from areas, this sculpture was inaugurated for the 1992 Barcelona games. Made of concrete and ceramics, it is the ceramic cladding that pays homage to Barcelona and its famous son Antoni Gaudí. Gaudí's technique (called trencadis) of creating mosaic designs by using brightly colored broken tiles was adopted here, with the exception that the broken tile within a defined area is all the same color or only slightly different in hue.
