The Arcade

Left and right: views from the north (or entrance); center: view from the south Two nine-story office towers are connected by this five-story glass-roofed atrium. This shopping space follows in the early nineteenth century tradition of covered shopping malls. See, for example, Nash's Royal Opera Arcade in London or the much grander Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II by Giuseppe Mengoni in Milan, built in 1861.
