The hillside facadeLike the two other guesthouses, Casa del Sol, so-named because it faces the sunset, is built on the hillside below the main house in order not to affect the castle's view. This side, cut into the hill, is three-stories whereas the other side is only one story. Morgan incorporated fragments of architecture and sculpture that Hearst had purchased into the design. The statue of Donatello's David, however, is a copy. The decorative tiles were designed by Morgan. (See also this page for details of tiles. | ||
