| Although this is a busy intersection with cars, buses, trams, and an important metro stop, it has been made more people-friendly by Aulenti's design of the piazzale and station and by the addition of this colorful, humorous pop-art sculpture. The oversize stainless needle jabs into the ground with a vari-colored thread looped around the diagonal. Opposite this strong vertical in a pool of water, the knot is seen bobbing to the surface. Some think these objects may be related to Milan's famous clothing industry. However, this sculptural duo often creates works without reference to the context.
