Central Los Angeles Area High School #9 for the Visual and Performing Arts (or Ramón C. Cortines School of the Visual and Performing Arts)--page 1 (of two pages)

On about a ten acre site in downtown Los Angeles this new high school campus has not only the usual classroom buildings (four) and library and cafeteria but a professional performing arts theater as well. It has special courses in music, dance, and the visual arts as well as the normal high school curriculum. The classroom buildings are along the periphery, thus creating a protected interior courtyard. The library (see page 2 for a slight glimpse of) is in the center of the courtyard. Large round windows, irregularly placed, are a distinctive feature of this Grand Avenue facade. Here, this Visual Arts Building at the front of the campus is the most open to the community. This building is clad in dark grey powder coated aluminum panels.
