Distant viewThis elegant 50-story skyscraper in Upper Midtown Atlanta is clad in pink granite. According to the AIA Guide to the Architecture of Atlanta, the copper pyramidal top was inspired by H. H. Richardson's Trinity Church in Boston while the proportions were influenced by Hood and Howell's Chicago Tribune Tower (121). Other historicist details include the modified Gothic elements at the roof (the finial at the junction of shaft and roof and the gilded crockets on the pyramidal top) and elaborate base with arched windows, "Gothic" balustrade, and corbels. The baseAll four sides are identical. The center image is from the "back" side however. | ||
