Michael Graves
1995

A post-modern building

Graves, one of the main founders of the post-modern style, created here a building illustrating many of the characteristics of that style: it has a kind of "disharmonious harmony" seen particularly in the various colors of cladding and the towers and extensions; it is partly contextual--note the fenestration which alludes to Hoyt's earlier library; and it is fun--or user-friendly.
