This Web page is designed to gather data for David Nester's science project—a comparison of right- and left-handed mouse dexterity.
Participation should take no more than 5 minutes of your time.
If you have any trouble with this page (or find the instructions confusing), please send me an email so I can try to fix it. (Feb. 4, 2010: I believe that all the compatibility problems are fixed now.)
Please read the following instructions carefully before proceeding. (Once you begin the test, these instructions will no longer be visible.)
If your browser has a ZOOM function, please reset it to its default.
If you see a "View" menu option, choose "Zoom: Reset", or press
on your keyboard.
In addition, please make sure that your browser window is large enough to show the entire target grid (blue area with black outline).
You will perform this task 10 times with your right hand, and then 10 times with your left hand. (At any point in the process, the background tells you which hand you should be using.)
Move the mouse pointer to the target and click. The target should turn green .
Keep the mouse on the target; if it moves away, the target will change and you must click on it again to continue.
(This does not affect your timing for the test.)
After a brief (random) pause, the target will disappear and reappear somewhere else. Move the mouse to the new location and click (a fast as possible).
Go back to step 3, 10 times for each hand.
When you have finished, your (anonymous) results will be submitted.
After reading these instructions, click the button below to begin the test.
