A plain hardware store The relatively simple store/warehouse has grand terra cotta friezes around the two corner portals. There are four bays on one side and six on the other; still the end bays (with a different fenestration) frame the middle bays, which have a continuous sill. Like taller skyscrapers, it has a definite base although only a "hint" of a cornice with the decorative masonry forming the corbel pattern.
The Sullivanesque decoration The terra cotta bas relief with floral motifs is similar to the designs of Louis Sullivan. (Bebb had worked in Sullivan's office in Chicago.) See Index for works by Sullivan.
