Twenty-five walrus heads

Although the tusks of the walrus heads are restoration replacements in Fiberglas (the original terra cotta ones being removed for fear of danger to pedestrians below), the heads fortunately still march around the third story or the first story of the shaft after the base with a different fenestration. This club building (the Arctic Club, a business and social organization founded by gold rush prospectors) has an opulent restaurant with a large stained glass dome.

The upper story spandrels are decorated with terra cotta designs in pastel colors and the cornice above is elaborate as well. See below right.
