Building on Manifestación street, #16

Julio Bravo Folch
1902

A pioneering example of "Modernista" architecture in Zaragoza

This four-story "modernista" building occupies a promininent site with a corner elevation and facades on both Manifestación street and Santa Isabel. While the building is primarily brick, window moldings stand out in stone. In fact, on each register, the sculptural relief above the windows differs.

Modernista ironwork in characteristic vegetal motifs

Elaborate carvings in organic forms differ above the windows on each register.

The portal

The door is reminiscent of Islamic architecture, perhaps reflecting the influence of La Aljafería, the Moorish palace in Zaragoza.
