Named after the two Egyptian gods, Isis and Osiris, Ysios Bodegas is housed in an avant-garde winery building, an icon for the prestigious new wine 'la Rioja Alavesa.' It is set in the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria mountains of Spain on unlevel ground which varies in height up to 10 feet in some places. The undulating roof responds to this challenge as well as the mountainous landscape along the nearly 200 foot walls.

		This long linear building consists of over 8,000 square feet and there are more than 120 acres of vineyards.
The entrance The roof in the center of the building protrudes in a continuous volume over the Visitors Center. It has been compared to an altar, with the winery as a temple celebrating the ancient beverage.
		Dramatic contrast of roof and winery's sides Huge bars of aluminum form the reflective undulating roof, which echoes the mountains in the background. The building is made out of warm copper stained cedar, resembling wine barrels.
Two lateral reflecting pools are tiled with white broken ceramics to keep the water cool under the sun.
