One of Calatrava's early bridgesThis bridge was finished in 1987, before the spectacular El Alamillo bridge in Seville (1992), before the Campo Volantin Footbridge In Bilbao (1990-97), before the Quadracci pavilion, Milwaukee Art Museum, in Milwaukee with its dramatic footbridge (2001), and before the several bridges in his home city of Valencia (see Valencia on this site). It seems rather unadventuresome by comparison. The site is also unattractive with huge railroad lines below, and with barriers along the bridge itself, destroying the clean effect one expects. Like a number of his bridges this one accommodates both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
