The west frontThe west front is considered to have important examples of architectural sculpture, even though somewhat damaged. The relief carvings in the two lunettes depict the story of the death of Lazarus and the parable of the rich man's table. The archivolts are carved with vegetal motifs while the trumeau has the figure of Christ flanked by ten apostles and prophets on the jambs. The jamb figures are more advanced than most Romanesque works since they are less column-like and appear to be relating to each other. |
