Allegheny County Courthouse and Jail--Courthouse Courtyard and Jail

The Courtyard of the Courthouse Views of the interior courtyard looking east, looking west (with the shaft of the facade tower) and of the stairwell (in summer--the rest of the slides were taken in the late fall). The Courthouse is arranged around a central courtyard. Stairs are located in each of the corners. The variation in window treatment is characteristic of Richardson's style.
The Jail Views of the jail (with Courthouse rear to the left), the connecting "Bridge of Sighs," (with a detail of its arch), and the square front tower. The Warden's house is set into the corner.
		Granite walls surround the jail and an octagonal tower occupies the central position.
