View from the southwest
Gehry's first public building in New York City, located near the south end of the Chelsea Piers, would be most strikingly viewed from the water, especially since the repeated tiers have often been compared to sails. It is located across West Side Highway which hugs the edge of the Hudson River. This nine-story building, more than 150 feet tall, is clad in smokey white glass. At night the building's walls seem transparent.

The building to the north is strikingly reflected on the IAC Building causing the distorted grid.

On the sixth floor there is an outdoor terrace.

Glass curtain wall
This curtain wall is curved, constructed entirely of glass. There are 1437 exterior glass panels, fabricated in Italy, most of which are curved. They have a white baked-on ceramic dot pattern. Click to enlarge so that the dot pattern is visible.
