View from the southwestGehry's first public building in New York City, located near the south end of the Chelsea Piers, would be most strikingly viewed from the water, especially since the repeated tiers have often been compared to sails. It is located across West Side Highway which hugs the edge of the Hudson River. This nine-story building, more than 150 feet tall, is clad in smokey white glass. At night the building's walls seem transparent.
