Office Building de Utrecht

A modernist facade Oud began as a de stijl architect and in 1927, he was one of the fifteen architects who contributed to the influential modernist Weissenhof Estate exhibition. After World War II, Oud continued to design buildings and monuments although his approach to modernism was unique and sometimes criticized. This building uses the modernist curtain wall (in anodized aluminum), in this case spanned between a bright blue tile wall, which serves to separate the structure from the buildings on both sides--as does the set back in this deep site. The building was renovated by the Quist firm although some critics believe it has lost some of its original elegance.
