"The elongated archives building follows the curve of Rochussenstraat, screening off Museum Park from the rest of the city. It stands on concrete piers in a colonnade so that the park can be visually engaged through it. In the evening the colonnade plays host to Peter Struycken's spectacular light work" (Groenendijk, Rotterdam 102). (See here for Marco Adams' contribution to Wikimedia of the light installation.) The building is concrete and red and aluminium-colored corrugated metal.
Looking toward the archive buildingThe archive building and the study hall in the main building are connected by a glass air-lock. (See very top of photo on left.) The section where the archives and part of the library collection are stored is clad in a different material and is closed of necessity.
