Called Art Nouveau in France and Belgium, this style in the Netherlands is called Jugendstil. This building has characteristics of Dutch Jugendstil as well as Art Deco, seen especially in the angular decoration stone mullions of the upper windows, the striking tubular tower, and the geometric stained glass designs. Rounded corners, decorative striped masonry, and color contrasts set this department store apart.
