National Register of Historic Places, June 20, 2001This church, included in the American Institute of Architects’ collection of 31 “buildings that changed modern life,” is a relatively simple design completed in the last year of the Finnish architect's life. The church interior is famous for its acoustic qualities; the 600-seat church provides clear sound throughout the space. Saarinen eliminated parallel surfaces in the interior because sound waves reverberate back and forth between them. | ||
