Thomas Bradley Wing, Atrium, Los Angeles Central Library and Extension

The new extension, the Thomas Bradley Wing (named after the former mayor), features an enormous atrium which runs the length of the wing. This addition to the library is eight stories but four floors are above ground, four below. Stacks and reading rooms are on each side.

The two sides
Massive glazed terra cotta columns are aligned on one side. (Glazed terra cotta is a trademark of HHPA.) Escalators are on the other side.
