Julia Morgan
1905-6
The front facadeThis was the second building by Morgan erected on the campus. Like El Campanil, it is made of reinforced concrete and uses Mission-style details--red tile roof and iron balconies. This symmetrical library has five arched windows on the front (second floor) and one at each side. Windows grouped in threes are on the first floor.
The tall arched windows provided ample natural light for the stacks on the second floor. Like many of her later buildings in the Arts and Crafts style, the interior has exposed wood beams.
