An impressive setting for the spectacular European headquarters of the Sony CorporationPotsdamer Platz, a huge area in the central city has been essentially rebuilt and contains some of the most impressive architecture in the world with some of the best of international architects. While the city of Berlin has much world-famous architecture, this area has works by three Pritzker laureates, Sir Richard Rogers, José Rafael Moneo, and Renzo Piano, the last with a number of buildings in the area. The enormous Sony Center occupies the northern section of Potsdamer Platz. The tower occupies the most northeastern point while at the opposite end buildings are located around a huge plaza with stores, restaurants, cafes, and cinemas, all covered with a tent-like glass roof, constructed of steel ropes and poles. |
