State Representative for the Free and Hanseatic City of Bremen
Hilde Léon and Konrad Wohlhage
1999
Bremen, the smallest of Germany's 16 states, has this two-part "embassy" in the embassy district. The eight storey tower serves as a guest house while the lower four-storey corner building serves administrative purposes. The red painted plaster is a reminder of the red brick used in the state of Bremen. The syncopated windows are deeply incised (see detail below) and the entrance porch is set back and painted in forest green.
