Smithfield Cottage or 118 West Hall Street

Alfred S. Eichberg
1888

Oblique view of front facade

This Queen Anne style house (sometimes also defined as Arts and Crafts) was built for the wealthy plantation owner Jessy Parker Williams. This romantic style is characterized here by an asymmetric plan (obvious in the facade), some half-timbering, small turret (not visible in the photograph), and varied fenestration using small panes or stained glass.

Under the front porch, the pendant bay window lights the stairwell which continues into the bay window above.
