Green-Meldrim House--page 2 (of two pages)

John S. Norris
1853

East elevation--the garden facade

According to William Robert Mitchell, Jr. "Tall shutters and windows slide into hidden wall pockets, giving access to the verandah from the double parlors" (64). Beautiful ornate ironwork, both on the porch and the enclosing fence, is even more sumptuous here than elsewhere in Savannah.

Elaborate post and bracket iron work

Small oriel windows with corbeled bases and crenelated tops marching across the second floor facade

The enclosed garden with iron fencing, the lower level with cusped arches
