St. Trophime--page 7 (of eight pages): Views of the interior
Views of the nave
Like many pilgrimage churches, this barrel-vaulted nave is poorly lit with a very short clerestory and small, widely-spaced windows. The nave has five bays which join with a projecting transept.
The nave vaulting
This austere interior has very few decorative elements. Unlike the cloister capitals, which are often historiated, the capitals in the church are foliate, when decorated. These are generally located high in the nave.
